A warm and cozy shawl will hide from the wind, warm you on a cool evening and will be a wonderful gift. It is so nice to wrap up in it, sitting on the veranda or balcony. But finding the perfect shawl, over which all the stars converge, is very difficult. Threads, density and thickness, weight and size, color and pattern are important. Therefore, it is much easier to find a suitable scheme and bring it to life with your own hands!
We knit a shawl crochet: 7 simple patterns (step by step)
1. Shawl "Grandma's Square"
"Grandma's Square" is the simplest and most popular pattern for knitting literally everything: from napkins to shawls. It is very easy and quick to work with it, and it also looks equally good from any yarn, be it thin cotton or bulky plush.
To make the drawing look more interesting, take threads of several shades and a hook one size larger than the recommended one. Due to this, the shawl will be much softer, more textured and looser. Keep in mind that the yarn consumption is quite large and you will need about six skeins.
Start with a sliding loop on two fingers, lift up and knit 3 double crochets into the ring. Continue to repeat the same algorithm through 3 chain stitches twice more. After that, pull off the sliding loop - and now the top of the shawl triangle is ready. "Grandma's Square" is knitted with ordinary double crochets in arches made of air loops.
2. Shawl with hearts
This is a beautiful triangular shawl with a fan and heart pattern that looks especially good from angora yarn. When crocheting number 3, you get a canvas 92-95 cm in span and 44-45 cm in length in the center. In delicate pastel shades, the finished cape looks even more romantic and graceful.
Knitting begins with a ring of 8 stitches, in which you need to knit 4 double crochets, 5 stitches and again 4 double crochets. This will be the corner of the shawl top and from it you will simply go up in rows along the pattern of the pattern, gradually expanding the work.
3. Crochet shawl
First of all, this shawl catches the eye, of course, its unusual pattern. Large Solomon loops give the product lightness, airiness and volume. Knitting such a pattern is actually very fast and not at all as difficult as it might seem at first glance.
The first row starts with the simplest air loops in the amount of 4 pieces. The pattern is formed by freely pulling ordinary crochet loops into the ring. The first element needs only 4 such sections, but the main thing is not to tighten anything too tight.
Each subsequent group of crochet knobs is knitted into arches from the air loops of the previous row. For easy connection of the elements, a Solomon loop is used, which consists of a free air loop and a yarn.
4. Shawl with scales
This is one of the classic patterns, also called shells or fans. The peculiarity of such a shawl is its density and amazing volume, because the pattern is very warm and textured. This is a very good choice for winter, because it will warm you even on the coldest day!
Wrap 5 air loops in a ring, go up 3 loops and then alternate double crochets and air loops. You will get a checkmark with arches - this is the bottom corner of the future shawl. This element will gradually grow and diverge over the entire plane.
5. Knitted shawl with a gradient
To make such a beautiful and unusual shawl, you will need a skein of thread dyed with a gradient. The pattern is very simple, and it is the color scheme that makes it so effective. Therefore, you can handle such a product with your own hands, even without experience!
A shawl measuring 1.6x0.8 m will take one skein weighing 250 g when crocheting number 3. First, close 10 stitches in a ring, and then knit 20 double crochets into it. The subtleties of the pattern and the following rows are painted in great detail and shown in the video. The entire shawl consists of repeating arcs and squares and ends with beautiful arches on the sides of the triangle.
6. Semicircular shawl with wedges
A beautiful openwork shawl in a semicircle looks very elegant and impressive. This is a wonderful fall option if knitted from fine wool. And to make it look even more beautiful, take melange yarn or a gradient - and the result will surely surprise you!
The size of the finished shawl is 160x70 cm for nine wedges from angora yarn crocheted number 3. The work begins from a semicircular neck, from which the wedges will be formed. The last row may not be tied in any way - it will be beautiful, airy and neat anyway.
To get started, cast on 104 stitches, go up 3 more stitches and stick a crochet hook into the last one. The peculiarity is that you will have to knit not with simple double crochets, but with patent ones, knitted in three steps. The second row will have arches made of air loops, and then just continue to knit according to the pattern.
7. Shawl with daisies
This is an unusual sunny pattern that looks especially good in bright colors. Crocheted from thin acrylic threads, crochet number 3, this shawl is especially good in summer. In the center are flowers with petals, and the rest of the canvas is connected with a simple net.
First, cast on 12 stitches, and then knit a double crochet into a 4 loop, make 2 air loops and again a double crochet. Then the scheme is repeated according to the same algorithm. The nuance is that in this case, the double crochets in the pattern on the diagram are knitted not in arches, but in loops.
