Even the highest quality and brand new shoes are not immune to unpleasant odors. Naturally, this is at least embarrassing, but at the most, it is also extremely unhygienic. But don't panic ahead of time! Even such a delicate situation can be easily and quickly dealt with at home. Let's tell you how!
1. Deodorants for shoes
The easiest and most obvious way is to use deodorants and absorbents, which are now sold in any supermarket. But keep in mind that if the problem already exists, then any strongly smelling fragrances are just a disguise. And you must first get rid of the cause!
2. Washing and cleaning
If the material of the shoes allows, machine wash them in special bags with antibacterial agents. If it is leather or other delicate material, then wash or completely replace the insoles. If you didn't have them before, it's time to get them.
3. Freezing
During freezing, most bacteria die, so even simple airing on a cold balcony in winter is enough. Otherwise, take your washed and dried shoes, put them in textile bags and put them in the freezer. When the material is freezing, take out, fill the shoes with paper and dry them thoroughly in a natural way (away from batteries and heaters). The same method works well for smelling new synthetic shoes.
4. Powder powders
Try dry methods first before you flood or soak your shoes with household solutions. Use baking soda, citric acid or activated carbon, which is enough to sprinkle on the surface overnight. In the morning, remove the lumps and powder residues with a vacuum cleaner or any unnecessary brush. By the way, even peroxide is sold in tablets - take an interest!
5. Solutions and impregnations
Weak solutions of peroxide, vinegar or ammonia are suitable for cleaning the interior surface and removing odors. You can rub the inner surface with vodka or use strong green tea - a natural antiseptic. Apply solutions on a smooth surface with a well-squeezed sponge, and in other cases, use a spray bottle.
6. Mixes
If no simpler method works, mix equal parts peroxide, green tea, and salicylic acid. Put on gloves and wipe the shoes with a cotton pad in the solution on all sides, and then do not rinse. But keep in mind that this is an aggressive tool and first it is better to check somewhere in an inconspicuous place.
7. Socks with salt
Take clean, unwanted cotton socks and fill them tightly with table salt. After that, leave them in your shoes at least overnight, and preferably for 2-3 days. Instead of salt, you can also use a mixture of soda and crushed activated carbon - another good absorbent and antiseptic.
8. Homemade flavors
To hide a slight unpleasant smell, just put a cloth bag with ground coffee in your shoes. You can use green tea bags or a bag of any other herbs - mint, lavender, of your choice. If you use essential oils, make sure that they do not get on the shoe itself and leave no marks.
9. How to remove mold smell from shoes?
Without hesitation, take out and throw out the old insoles, and pour vodka or a vinegar solution inside the shoes (about 3 tablespoons per glass). Leave everything for 1-2 hours, and then drain the remaining liquid, dry the shoes and pour talcum powder or dry antibacterial deodorant inside overnight. Insert new insoles only in the morning - you can drip tea tree oil on them.
10. How can I prevent unpleasant odors in my shoes?
If you suffer from excessive sweating, the first step is to incorporate a special deodorant or talcum powder into your daily rituals. When buying boots, socks or tights, choose natural materials - at least 70-80%.
Be sure to dry your shoes every time you come home, even if they look okay at first glance. At the same time, sushi and air the insoles separately, and also change them at least once a month. And finally, if the problem is too obvious, be sure to consult a doctor to rule out the fungus.
